What's new in stingsby
Every version of stingsby, newest first. Stingsby is in early access, so versions are numbered 0.x (beta) until the public launch.
0.7.0 (beta)
Added
- π₯ Join log. Pick a channel in the new π₯ Join log menu of
/configand stingsby posts every member who joins: the exact time they joined, their member number, when their account was created and how old it is (under a week is flagged), and who invited them with which invite. It works this out from the invites' use counts, and also recognises the vanity URL, used-up single-use invites, and people joining at the same moment (all possible invites are listed). Off by default. - Leaves are logged in the same channel (π€ Member left): when they left, when they joined and how long they stayed (under a day is flagged), their account age and how they joined. Removals by stingsby itself (trap bans and softbans) are marked in red. Leaving never lowers an invite's use count.
- Every join and leave is saved to the event log:
/honeypot logshas a new Joins and leaves kind, anduser:shows someone's joins and leaves. Ban reports show how the caught account joined. - π Duplicate detection is no longer experimental. Any server's staff can turn it on or off in
/config(still off by default), with no request or approval. Servers that already had it on keep it on. With no experiments left,/experimentaland/ownerdisappear; they come back automatically when a new experiment is added. - Runs without the Message Content intent. If the Developer Portal doesn't allow it (for example a verified bot without Discord's approval), stingsby notices on start and carries on without it instead of failing to connect: the trap and every other feature work, reports say the text isn't available, and duplicate detection shows as unavailable in
/config.MESSAGE_CONTENT=falsein.envnever asks for it. /configand/security scanwarn when the join log can't read invites (no Manage Server) or can't post in its channel. Deleting the join log channel turns the join log off and says so in the log channel.
Fixed
/security reportcounted duplicate-detection catches as honeypot bans. They now have their own count and their own table (with how many channels each message went to), and the "Banned accounts" table is now "Caught by the honeypot". Catches from 0.6.0 are sorted out automatically when the bot starts.
0.6.0 (beta)
New
- π§ͺ Experimental features, approved per server by the bot owner. Servers press Request access in
/config; the request lands in the support server's#features-requests(created if missing) with Approve / Decline buttons only the owner can use. Owner commands:/owner features list | grant | revoke, only in the support server.
Changed
/config: the Reset button is now Reset or delete data, and its first option is Reset settings, keep log. The confirmation says that stingsby stays in the server either way, and how to remove it.
0.5.0 (beta)
New
- Data kept for 30 days after the bot is removed from a server (
LEFT_RETENTION_DAYS), in case it's added back. On return, everything is restored, the trap comes back paused, and a note in the log channel asks staff to arm it again. Removals and re-adds while the bot was offline are caught on its next start. - π₯ Delete all data in
/configβ Reset: deletes the server's settings, event log and strikes straight away.
Changed
/configReset's button is now Reset settings, next to Delete all data./help: Quick start comes first until the server is set up; the π note moved from the footer into the text.- Privacy Policy and Terms updated for the 30-day grace period.

- Escalating action: a harsher step each time the same account is caught (timeout 1 day β timeout 7 days β softban β ban), with strikes that reset after 90 days and a ποΈ Forgive button on reports.
- New accounts rule: accounts younger than a set age (default 1 day) are banned straight away, whatever the action.
- π¨ Incidents: alerts for Discord-detected raids and DM spam, plus stingsby's own join-spike and new-account detector. It can ping a role and pause DMs or invites automatically, with βΆοΈ Resume buttons.
/configsettings panel: every setting in one place, with the Durations and Incidents settings as forms (label, description and placeholder on each field).- Timeout Members is now included in the invite link.
Changed

πγ»dont-poke-the-hive. /pingis staff only (Manage Server).
