1. What stingsby is

Stingsby (“the bot”) is a Discord bot that protects servers from compromised accounts. A server's staff choose a trap channel. When a member who isn't exempt posts there, stingsby bans them, asks Discord to delete their recent messages, sends them a direct message explaining why, and reports the ban to the server's staff. It also offers a security scan, reports, an event log, a join log and bulk message clean-up.

Stingsby is run by an individual maintainer (“we”, “us”), reachable as wfabio on Discord. It is provided free of charge. It is not made, endorsed or supported by Discord Inc.

2. Who can use it

• You must meet Discord's minimum age and follow the Discord Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. Those always apply alongside these terms.
• Stingsby is currently a private bot in early access: it's still in an early stage of development, it can only be added through an invite link the maintainer sends, and access is given on request in the support server. We may open it to the public, or close access again, at any time.
• To add stingsby to a server, you need the Manage Server permission there. By adding it, you confirm you are allowed to make that decision for the server.

3. Responsibilities of server staff

Stingsby bans people automatically, so the staff of each server that uses it are responsible for how it is set up there. In particular, you agree to:

• make it clear to members that posting in the trap channel leads to a ban. Stingsby posts and pins a warning for this; don't remove or hide it, and don't disguise the trap as a normal channel;
• keep staff and trusted members exempt as needed (see Who is never banned);
• handle ban appeals from your members yourselves. We don't review or reverse bans made in your server;
• tell your members, where your local law requires it, that stingsby processes the data described in the Privacy Policy.

4. Acceptable use

You must not:

• use stingsby to trick, harass or target members, for example by luring specific people into the trap channel;
• try to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorised access to the bot or the systems it runs on;
• use stingsby in a way that breaks Discord's terms or the law.

5. Availability and changes

We try to keep stingsby running, but we don't guarantee that it will always be online, catch every spam account, or work without errors. We may change, add or remove features, or pause or end the service at any time, with or without notice.

6. Ending use

You can stop using stingsby at any time by removing it from your server; its settings and event log for that server are then deleted after 30 days, or straight away with Delete all data in /config, as described in the Privacy Policy. We may remove stingsby from a server, or stop offering it to anyone, at any time, especially if these terms are broken.

7. No warranty

Stingsby is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the extent the law allows.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for bans, deleted messages, missed spam or other outcomes in your server, whether caused by the bot working as designed, by a mistake in its setup, by an error, or by an outage. Messages Discord deletes on a ban cannot be restored. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If you keep using stingsby after a change, you accept the new terms.
